District of Segeberg, Regional Development, Germany
The District of Segeberg is a part of Schleswig-Holstein, the northernmost of the German federal states (Laender). It is located within the city triangle of Hamburg–Lübeck–Neumünster. It extends from the rim of the level lake country in Eastern Holstein through the sandy uplands in central Holstein right up to the city limits of Hamburg. To a large extent, it owes its varied culture, changing landscape, versatile economy and its favourable traffic infrastructure to this geographical location.
The District of Segeberg is a highly attractive place to live and work in. In the past three decades, dynamic and promising developments have taken place in the district. The population is constantly growing at a rate of 1,000 to 3,000 per annum and the district currently has 260,000 inhabitants.
Today the District of Segeberg is a region with an efficient economy, attractive countryside and a mostly sound environment. 75,000 jobs, good educational institutions, and comprehensive recreational and cultural facilities are available.
