Breast health project: kick-off meeting in Denmark

The project “Cross-border Collaboration on Population Breast Health in South Denmark and Schleswig-Holstein” starts its activities with a kick-off meeting on 3–4 of February 2009 in Odense, Denmark.

The Region South Denmark and the University of Applied Sciences Flensburg (as lead partner) have invited to the meeting of the Interreg IV A project. Main topics of the agenda are the presentations of the work-packages

  • Breast Cancer Programmes in Southern Denmark and Northern Schleswig-Holstein: Structures and Processes
  • Cross-border Medical Cooperation
  • Cross-border IT-Network and Security
  • Administration and Sustainability of the “Cross-border Breast Cancer Centre”.

Afterwards working groups for Clinicians, IT-Professionals, and for Administration, Strategy and Financing will be held.

Besides these activities the project partners will visit the Odense University Hospital.

The main objectives of the project are:

  • To establish a cross-border cooperation network among professionals (medical, IT, administrational), patient organisations and further stakeholders from South Denmark and Northern Schleswig-Holstein in the field of breast cancer prevention and treatment.
  • To exchange professional knowledge and create a common medical, technical and organisational understanding about the breast cancer programs in South Denmark and Northern Schleswig-Holstein.
  • To verify the feasibility and prepare a concept for the large-scale implementation of cross-border medical services within the framework of breast cancer prevention and treatment.
